Analytics and Cookies

Analytics help us see which pages are useful and where setup gets difficult, so we can improve them. We keep this deliberately narrow: the pages you visit, what you click, your browser and device type, your approximate country, and a random identifier stored in your browser that distinguishes a returning visit from a new one. We work with PostHog (PostHog, Inc.) and Google Analytics 4 (Google LLC), who process this on servers in the United States under Standard Contractual Clauses and act only on our instructions. It is not sold or shared with advertisers.

Some things stay off limits by design. Screen recording and session replay are switched off, so there is no video or reconstruction of your browsing. Your content stays yours: documents you write, and anything your users write in an Eddyter editor embedded on your site, are never sent to an analytics provider. Licence keys and API keys are excluded, and the admin, sign-in and invitation pages are left out entirely.

None of this begins until you accept. Choose “Reject All” and nothing is collected from your browser; Eddyter behaves identically either way. Cookie Settings in the footer lets you revisit the decision at any time, and clears the identifier stored in your browser.

Separately, our servers record account events such as signing up or starting a subscription, so we can measure how many people complete setup. These carry no cookie, no device identifier and no IP address, and rest on our legitimate interest in running and improving the service. Third-Party Data Attributions

We use IP geolocation data provided by MaxMind GeoLite2 to display approximate device locations in your Account Activity. This product includes GeoLite2 data created by MaxMind, available from https://www.maxmind.com. The data is processed on our servers and is not shared with MaxMind.
